Early Childhood Afternoon Teacher

The Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center (FJECC) at Temple Israel, named one of "The Hub's Top Preschools," has openings (part-time and full-time) for caring and nurturing teachers to work in our afternoon program. Beginning in late-August, 2024, we are looking to fill at least a 12:30-5:30pm spot, with more hours available if desired. We are a Jewish early childhood program within a large Reform Congregation and serve a diverse community of students ages 20 months to 5 years old. We are a Reggio-inspired, constructivist program which joyously integrates quality Jewish and secular education.

Responsibilities:

Working on a team (a mix of lead and assistant teachers) you will care for the physical and emotional well-being of up to 20 mixed-age preschool children during the "Extended Hours" portion of our day from 1:00-5:30pm.  Responsibilities include:

  • Planning curriculum and activities based on each individual child's and the full class' interests and emerging interests.

  • Help maintain a safe and aesthetically-pleasing indoor and outdoor environment that allows children to explore, play and create.

  • Communicate effectively with your team, with families, other teachers, and the school administration.

  Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree. Background in early childhood education and 1-3 years’ experience in early education preferred. 

  • Ability to work well as a member of a team, ask for help, accept feedback, and offer your own creative ideas.

  • Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care's "Strong Start" certification within 90 days of employment.

  • Sense of humor and appreciation of the developmental joys of young children.

  • Ability to actively interact with children including kneeling, bending, running and sitting on the floor and in small chairs.

Working on a team (2 lead teachers and an assistant teacher) you will:

  • Care for the physical and emotional well-being of 9-16 children in your class, including planning curriculum based on each individual child's and the full class' interests and emerging interests.

  • Help maintain a safe and aesthetically-pleasing indoor and outdoor environment that allows children to explore, play and create.

  • Provide documentation of what the class is learning, through displays in the classroom and school and via our online app, Kaymbu.

  • Communicate effectively with your team, with families, other teachers, and the school administration.

  Qualifications

EARLY CHILDHOOD SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

The Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center (FJECC) at Temple Israel, named one of "The Hub's Top Preschools," is looking for caring and nurturing Substitute Teachers.  Come join our dynamic team of educators in a high quality, developmentally-based integrated Jewish and secular program. 

The people in this role will work in all six of our classrooms (2 toddler and 4 preschool age groups) to provide extra support to our teaching teams. FJECC’s school hours are from approximately 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, and we are seeking substitute teachers to work a variety of shifts during this time (8am-1pm, 9am-3pm, 12pm-5pm, etc.). This opportunity may lead to a full time classroom position for the right person.
