FAQ

What do I need to do to apply to FJECC?
You are welcome to apply online anytime beginning in October. All applications received through January 15 are sorted based on priority status (member, non-member, etc.). We encourage – but do not require – parents to visit the school. You can also visit our website and our social media accounts to get to know us!  The first round of acceptances will be emailed by February, with contracts due by April 1. We will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis until full. Visit our Admissions page for more details about timeline and process.

Does FJECC offer Financial Assistance?
FJECC has limited scholarship funds available. Families complete an online financial assistance application through the National Association of Independent Schools website, which generates a report estimating the parents' ability to contribute. The FJECC tuition assistance committee considers the report along with other materials in order to make a determination of scholarship. For more information, please contact Amy Bolotin, Director at (617) 739-6455 or abolotin@tisrael.org

Do Temple Israel members receive priority admissions?
FJECC, as part of Temple Israel, strives to serve Temple Israel members as part of our core mission. Temple members in good standing have preference over non-members. That said, non-members are encouraged to apply, since there are many non-member families who are also a part of our school.

What are the demographics of FJECC?
Our school is representative of the Brookline/Boston area where we are located. All are welcome to apply!  We have children/families who are Jewish, interfaith, and non-Jewish. Our staff and students come from the greater Boston community, representing different ethnicities, race, gender, gender identity, religion, disability, socio-economic status and sexual orientation. We have parents of the same gender, divorced, and single by choice, as well as families for whom English is a second language. Our hope is that every child, family and staff member will feel welcomed and seen at our school.

Is FJECC a Free Universal PreK site?
Yes! Beginning September 2024 we will be a site for Boston Pre-K (formerly Universal PreK or UPK), for 3 and 4 year olds, in partnership with the Boston Public Schools (BPS). This is a free program for any family who resides in Boston, and there are no income requirements. This means that BPS will pay for tuition for your child until 3:00 pm. Please contact Jenny Gamson, Director of Admissions at (617) 739-6455 or jgamson@tisrael.org for more information about Boston Pre-K.

How does food work at FJECC?
Families send a morning snack, lunch and a water bottle daily. On Fridays, we celebrate Shabbat with challah (yummy bread) and grape juice.  We are a nut free school due to the high number of children with allergies. Lastly, out of respect to families who are Kosher, we also ask parents to refrain from sending any food containing pork or shellfish products.

Do you provide parking for pick up and drop off?
For quick drop off and pick up times, there are designated 15-minute parking spots outside our building on the left side of Nessel Way and in the MASCO garage at 375 Longwood Avenue. We also cover up to 45 minutes on days where you need a longer time for a drop off.
