Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center

The Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center at Temple Israel (FJECC) was established to meet the needs of young children and their families. We pride ourselves in offering innovative and cutting edge educational opportunities for our young students in a nurturing and safe environment, while preparing them for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

We enroll children ages 1 year 8 months through 5 years of age amongst our five age-divided classrooms, including our Blue Room which is an accredited Kindergarten. Our teacher-to-student ratio is 1:3 in the toddler classroom and 1:6 in the preschool, where each classroom has two lead teachers, and a minimum of one additional assistant teacher per room.

Our Day

Our School Calendar generally follows the Public Schools of Brookline calendar from September through June. An onsite 10 week Summer Camp program is offered through Temple Israel. Our core classroom day runs from 9:00am-1:00pm and includes children staying through parent-provided lunch. See below for Extended Hours, and click to learn more about our curriculum, outdoor classroom, and enrichment programs

Our Early Morning program (8:00-9:00am) allows parents flexibility during drop-off time and offers a quiet social time in the care of a teacher. Various activities such as stories, drawing, puzzles and games are available on a daily basis, and children are brought to their classrooms at the end of the hour to join their peers. A Toddler Early Morning program operates within the Toddler classroom, following the same model.

Our Extended Day program (1:00-3:00pm) runs throughout the school year. Each class has a rest period, additional outside time and play time within their classroom. Learn more about our Extended Day Programming.

The Stay & Play late afternoon program (3:00-5:30pm) is available to continue to give parents as much flexibility as possible, while offering an enriching small group opportunity.
