Frog & Toad

One of the most consistent aspects of our time in the Green Room this year was a love of storytelling. And while storytelling was already built into the curriculum, the children would often ask for more. We began listening to audiobooks during lunch, and our favorites quickly became the Frog and Toad stories narrated by their author and illustrator Arnold Lobel.
Lobel wrote four volumes of Frog and Toad, each including five stories chronicling the friendship and adventures of two characters named Frog and Toad. The stories span a range of topics, but each contains an important message about friendship, patience, compassion, or acceptance.

Some of the children’s favorite stories included Shivers (Days With Frog and Toad (1979)), The Dream (Frog and Toad Together (1972)), and Down the Hill (Frog and Toad All Year (1976)). Nicole's favorites include Cookies (Frog and Toad Together (1972)), and A Swim ((Frog and Toad Are Friends (1970)). Sarah's favorites are The Garden (Frog and Toad Together (1972)) and A Lost Button (Frog and Toad Are Friends (1970)).

The children loved them so much that Sarah dressed up as Toad and Nicole dressed up as the Dark Frog from the Shivers story for Purim this year!
